The Unholy Trinity
Warranties by Unholy Three
McKinsey Allstate Home Depot
Home Depot switched their product warranty plans to Allstate. Allstate and McKinsey have a long history of what some may consider marginal conduct. You might let them date your daughter but would require two or more chaperones.
Exhibit 1 Here it begins and sets the strident tone.
Exhibit 2 The Alabama Insurance Department’s kindly response to my inquiries.
Exhibit 3 Another plaintiff association view of Allstate. Admittedly full of prejudice but has probative value despite this.
Exhibit 4 Plaintiff lawyer association hit piece admittedly. However, Trustpilot is more than creditable and provides their second lowest rating That is worth noticing. Plaintiff lawyers do not control their ratings. Users do. They also provide the company ample opportunity to respond.
Exhibit 5 McKensie report released, and a brief summary provided. The area in bold is crucial to the warranty program.
Exhibit 6 and 7. NY Times reports on another McKensie wrongdoing. Half billion here and maybe another there pretty soon you’re talking real money right? Spots never change from the leper they say.
Home Depot turned their entire extended warranty program over to an insurer whose track record is less than spotty. The position they enjoy relative to claims and service has been earned over decades of practice. Did anyone at Depot consider any of this? Did they actually perform due diligence? At the very least red flags appear to be present. Did they just turn their customers over to a third party whose claim practices and patterns will not engender better customer relations? Do they even care? Does it even matter? That is for the reader to decide.
